Half of 2022 has rushed by and we look to a busy second half of the year that will no doubt fly by as quickly. Our 50/50 webinar series continues to attract new viewers and on 18 July we will host the third of our four-part series on Reweaving the Web of Life with Kathi Bailey and her family sharing their intergenerational journey. On Monday 15 August, Dr Peter Whitehouse (aka The Tree Doctor) will tie up the first 3 sessions and will lead discussion about concrete next steps.

 

Our next 50/50 Global PIONeer Online series starting 15 September 2022 will showcase PIONeers from around the globe and will tackle pertinent issues of ageism, digital challenges, housing, attitude, and earning and learning. Our guiding principles in co-creating these conversations are inspired by Maggie Kuhn’s 5 Ms for continued, effective and meaningful involvement: Mentoring, Mediating, Monitoring, Mobilizing, and Motivating. PION will be present at the UN’s High Level Political Forum in New York on Wednesday 6 July through Bruce Frankel’s contribution on «Action at the Local Level». In May, I presented at the UN's Expert Group Meeting in Paris to review SDG 4 (Sustainable Development Goals) in preparation for the New York meeting. The goal of SDG 4 is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

 

We’re happy to be working with two new young interns and find this intergenerational experience more and more rewarding.

So Much to Learn from Each Other

 

My name is Chryztina Harding-Graham and I am a senior at Pennsylvania State University studying English and Philosophy. I’m from NYC and hope to become a judge as I have a passion for the law and human rights. Currently, I am an intern working with the Pass It On Network to raise awareness of the issues faced by elderly people and how we as a society can prepare for our own aging in the future. Through research, speaking with other organizations, and writing articles I will increase public knowledge, as well as my own on what we can do to help the growing population of elderly people. 

My name is Esme and I’m a student from England. I study Politics and International Relations at the University of Bristol and I’m lucky enough to be able to intern with Pass It On Network. My hobbies include writing, reading, going to the gym, and spending time with my friends and family. I’ve written for one of my university’s feminist magazines, and I feel very passionately about gender equality in particular. Working with Pass It On Network is a great opportunity for me to explore how our society can adapt to foster a thriving older population, and not just a surviving one.
