Val is the founder of Learn with Grandma, and our PIONeer liaison in Wales. She’s been attending COP 26 and posting about her experience. Watch her daily report here. The need for digital inclusion and digital equity is pervasive!
The right to Digital Equity for All Ages was reinforced throughout the world as organizations and institutions marked the UN’s International Day of Older People on 1 October and reinforced the vital importance of high quality digital access for all. You can catch up here. Our own Global PIONeer 50/50 global conversation, Digital
Inclusion for Older People, drew participants from as far afield as New Zealand and India.
The subject of digital inclusion was again on the agenda at the Age Friendly Universities’ “Engaging Ageing 21 -- The Future of Ageing and the Silver Economy”, a 3-day virtual conference organized by Dublin City University (the founding member of the Age Friendly Universities Association). The Pass It On Network was well represented among the speakers by Jan Hively, Moira Allan, Richard Adler, keynote speaker on Digital Inclusion, and
Manish Rai, from Hyderabad, India. We were all very happy to reunite with Marie Carroll, a PIONeer follower from Dublin.

Vijay Nairadoo
Based on Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, Vijay Nairadoo is very active in advocating for Human Rights for Older People. He is the President of the Commission for the Rights of Older People of DIS-MOI (Droits Humains Ocean Indien/ Human Rights Indian Ocean), a non-governmental organization (NGO) created to foster a human rights culture in the Southwest Indian Ocean region. George Lorenzo
Introducing an “old soul” whose plain-spoken wisdom is readily accessible for Global PIONeers
George Lorenzo is a relatively new member of the Pass It On Network. His background is in freelance education writing (for 30 years) through a website service he runs called Educational Pathways ( www.edpath.com). He also operates two other website properties: “Old Anima: Unique Resources for Older Adults” ( www.oldanima.com), launched when he turned 62 in 2015; and “Workforce Monitor: Summarized Resources on Credentials and the Future of Work” ( www.wfmonitor.com), co-published with George Washington University, and launched in January 2021 at the age of 67.
Read more about this self-employed “late bloomer” who has struggled with ageism in the workplace. He offers a lot of resources on his websites to help older adults find meaningful employment. As important, he has shown in his own life that the basic message is: “Keep on trying.”
