When Will I Ever Learn? It was about two weeks ago. I worked myself into a real tizz. Lost about three hours. The problem was an internet platform – or was I the
problem? I’d always considered myself computer literate, but this episode really got to me. I was part of a grant application process and I’d been signing into the platform for months. Suddenly, my password didn’t work and I had to punch in a pin to get through the security gate. A PIN, what PIN? I won’t go into detail but as it worked out, I was the hitch, victim of an old shortcoming. If only I had scrolled right down and read the whole message from
top to bottom, I would have spared myself and one or two other people a lot of wasted time. How often do we react before fully understanding what is asked – and this certainly doesn’t apply only to computers and the internet! The lesson is simple – slow down and check the facts.

Signs that Things are Moving
More Perfect, a coalition of national service and bridge-building groups including CoGenerate (former Encore.org), was launched in October and issued a bold plan calling for cogenerational national service and volunteering. This year’s commemoration of AmeriCorps’ 30th anniversary is seen not only as an
opportunity to celebrate all that AmeriCorps has accomplished for the USA, but also as an opportunity to cast an ambitious vision for the next 30 years. A vision that harnesses the growing age-diversity of the USA as a catalyst for forging meaningful bonds across generations, bridging divides, and fostering more inclusive, caring communities for all. "In these divisive times, national service can deliver a powerful and much-needed message that we’re in it together. We live today in the most
age-diverse society ever, anchored by young people and powerfully enhanced by older adults., giving us an unprecedented opportunity to form an equally age-diverse AmeriCorps.” Read more here. Check out the full report: Ask and All: A Plan to Expand National Service and Volunteering.
